FRED WOODS
- President, CEO & Founder
Mr. Woods has over 30 years experience in
executive management, executing large scale mergers
and acquisitions while deploying an innovative and
technology forward strategy.
Mr. Woods began his career at a start-up energy company and
went on to hold key senior positions, before founding and building a series of billion dollar public companies that were sold for cash (Ulster ~$1B, Midnight/Daylight ~$3B plus ~$1B in dividends).
He built strong technical teams, developed innovative and creative business strategies which generated solid growth and delivered 20 yrs. CAGR > 25% and IRR > 23.5%.

Peter Checknita
- Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Checknita is the Chief Operating Officer of 5iR Smart Technology and has a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
Mr. Checknita began his career working in the reservoir exploitation at the Canadian affiliate of ExxonMobil. He has developed expertise in technical and business roles that encompassed financial evaluations for mergers and acquisitions, management and oversight of capital and operating budgets, while deploying detailed technical evaluations involving complex computer modeling.
Daisy Liu
- Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Liu is the Chief Financial Officer for 5iR Smart Technology and studied at the University of Macau where she obtained a BBA in Finance, going on to receive an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Ms. Liu is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom and she speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
Daisy also volunteers at Invest Canada Alliance, a non-profit organization that helps connect local tech entrepreneurs with investors and business partners worldwide.
Bryce Honish
- Managing Director
Mr. Honish is the Managing Director at 5iR Smart Technology and is studying BComm at Athabasca University.
Mr. Honish has worked in a variety of applied and technical spaces and has field operational experience with major energy companies. Along with experience in sales and marketing with a Fortune 500 automotive company.
He has knowledge and experience in various sectors including energy, healthcare and agriculture as well as the transportation and automotive industries.

DR. ESSAM ZAGHLOUL
Dr. Zaghloul is an internationally recognized energy industry expert and entrepreneur with over 44 years’ experience. Dr. Zaghloul holds a BSc (Hons) and PhD in Geology and has co-founded Canadian and international entities, taken them public and grew them organically and through acquisitions.
Dr. Zaghloul's extensive international experience has developed from senior management roles at Wi-LAN, Cell-LOC, NTG, FOX-TEK, Centurion, Tanganyika (Dublin acquired by Sinopec) and OOCEP. He grew NTG to the 4th largest growing company in the province of Alberta and 35th in all of Canada.
He has also held management and technical positions with Canadian Occidental, Chauvco Resources, Calvalley Petroleum, Gulf Canada and Encana. He advises the financial community on industry trends and has served as Chairman, Board Member, Advisory Board member and Sr. Executive of startups along with public and private companies.
ALDRIN OR
Mr. Or holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology specializing in manufacturing engineering. He has 10 plus years experience as a founder and currently heads Curie Limited focusing on healthcare technology.
